Heritage Artisans in Action!

Last held at the Avon River Heritage Society Museum in Newport Landing on weekends throughout the summer of 2003, Heritage Artisans in Action provides an opportunity for local artisans to focus on historical trades, crafts, and art forms done in both traditional and contemporary manners.

Opening on June 15th, followed by a series of themed HAiA Sundays over the course of the summer, participating artisans will have opportunities to display their skills and present informative demonstrations.

Art forms represented by the group include boat building, wood-carving, painting, weaving, leatherwork, ironwork, hand spun and dyed yarns, hooking and felting, embroidery, knitting, quilting, fabric painting, jewellery, and glass work.

On June 15th we kicked off the season by inviting 20 local artists to the museum do demonstrate their craft. Throughout the summer we will be hosting a series of themed Heritage Artisans in Action days every Sunday from 10am - 5pm starting June 30th with Rose Marie MacDonald, Tacha Reed and Kim Ellis returning to celebrate the Fibre Arts!
