About Us

Originally formed in 2006, the purpose of the Hants County Arts Council is to support artists of all types in Hants County through our three goals:

1) increase understanding of arts and culture,

2) promote excellence and provide encouragement,

3) create educational and networking opportunities.

To achieve these goals, we do the following:

End of Winter Showcase

Held annually in Brooklyn N.S. at the Bread Gallery, the End of Winter Showcase is a juried selection of recent works by members of the council.

The Harvest Festival of Art

Our signature event. Held every autumn in Windsor N.S. during Culture Days, the Harvest Festival of Art is our largest show and sale of the year.

The Arts Digest

The HCAC Arts Digest is a descriptive listing of artists, studios, galleries and cultural associations widely distributed throughout HRM, Hants County and the Annapolis Valley.

Educational Events

On an irregular basis, the council organizes:

Tours of artist’s workshops.
Social gatherings to meet, greet and discuss art with your fellows.
Seminars and workshops.
A regular lecture series.
Artist Demonstrations.

Regular Board Meetings

Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Please contact one of the board members for location and details.
